Automation System from Efacec at 132/33 kV GIS substation in Iraq

Efacec is expanding its position in Middle East market, recently the company was awarded with a contract for the supply of integrated automation and control system for the Republic of Iraq.

It is the first supply of Efacec substation automation systems in this country, the accomplishment resulting from a close cooperation with our business partner from Japan, Fuji Electric. Efacec will supply Fuji with all necessary hardware and software for the supervision and control of a new 132/33 kV GIS substation, integrated in the water supply project for the city Basrah, one of the three biggest cities in Iraq.

The solution is based on the CLP 500SAS platform that includes IEC 61850 dual redundant Ethernet LAN that links the station and bay levels. At the control room, a set of workstations, with Efacec station servers UC 500E and user interface HMI 500, will be installed, allowing local or remote control of the substation. At the bay levels, both for 133 and 33 kV, control units from Efacec Series 500 will be installed. The system is ready for integration of the protection relays from third parties, not included in Efacec’s scope of supply.

Efacec is satisfied with this new contract, despite worldwide market constrains, the company gains new markets and new customers.
