Efacec Automation Systems supporting the Kenya Grid

Efacec is expanding its presence at the Kenyan market. Recently has received a new order for the supply of automation systems for three substations under expansion. The SAS systems will be deployed at two HV substations (132/33 kV Naivasha and Makutano) and one of 30/6.6 kV (Kabete).

The systems to be supplied for Kenya Power are based on the technology integrally developed by Efacec, the CLP 500 platform. It integrates bay control units and terminal protection units from Efacec, as well as third party protections and measurement devices. The solution is based on IEC 61850 standard.

In addition to this project, Efacec Automation has concluded substation automation system at 66/11 kV distribution substation operated by the Kenyan telecommunication company Liquid Telecom.
