Efacec Automation concludes SAS in Kenya

During the first quarter of 2016, Efacec Automation has successfully concluded the implementation of the automation system featuring protection and control for Kenya Power. The SAS system was deployed at 132/33 kV Maungu substation.

The system supplied for Kenya Power is based on technology integrally developed by Efacec, the CLP 500 platform. It integrates bay control units and terminal protection units from Efacec, as well as third party protection relays and measurement devices. The solution is based on IEC 61850 standard.

With this installation, Efacec Automation completed a project that included eight transmission and distribution substations.

In addition to this project, also in Kenya, Efacec Automation will deploy substation automation system at 66/11 kV distribution substation operated by the telecommunication company Liquid Telecom. Recently, factory acceptance tests have been successfully concluded at Efacec facilities in Portugal, and in a near-future the on-site installation will proceed.
