Efacec Automation has successfully delivered automation and control solution for Infulene substation for EDM in Mozambique, in the scope of implementation of control, monitoring and protection functionalities at a new 275/66 kV transformer bay.
Infulene substation integrates the EDM’s power grid in capital of Mozambique Maputo. The main purpose of this project was to increase the installed capacity of the substation transformer up to 250 MVA.
The supplied systems, based on Efacec’s CLP 500SAS platform includes substation server controller UC 500E, user interface HMI 500, protection relays from Efacec’s Series 220 and Series 430 - the most recent protection range from Efacec; as well as protection relays from Siemens.
The Series 430 are multifunctional relays that also allow plug-and-play engineering with fit-for-purpose configurations. At the Infulene substation, they carry out as overcurrent multifunction protection function, in addition to backup of supervision and control system.
