Angolan RNT presents Control Centre with Efacec SCADA system

This December, an official presentation of the upgraded SCADA EMS system took place at the RNT Control Centre. The session was attended by managers and directors from Angolan generation, transmission and distribution companies, namely chief executive officers, general managers, project managers and engineers from PRODEL (generation operator), ENDE (distribution operator), and RNT (transmission operator) - where the SCADA EMS system is installed. The presentation/demonstration session was conducted by Efacec Automation specialists.

RNT (Rede Nacional de Transporte de Electricidade) is the company responsible for the electrical energy transmission system in Angola, which, in a context of accelerated development of the country, is facing not only growth of electrical energy demand but also requirements of increased Quality of Service. The needs to be met with improved management of the power grid.
The upgraded Control Centre operates with SCADA EMS system delivered by Efacec Automation, which provides RNT with a state-of-the-art, technologically advanced supervision and control infrastructure.

The supplied SCADA EMS system, based on most recent platform for network management - ScateX+ EMS - provides high performance solutions for a secure and efficient management of the system. It combines conventional SCADA functions with advanced power applications; by its open nature, this platform enables integration with the energy market, asset management systems and other external components.

Like this, the remote supervision and control of the power transmission network is possible from the control centre in Camama city located in Luanda district. The RNT transmission system integrates substations, with voltage levels of 60, 110, 220 and 400 kV, including hydro and thermal power station spread throughout the north and central region of Angola.
