Automation System deploys SAS for Chilectra, Chile

Chilean company Chilectra continues to trust on Efacec Automation products and solutions. Recently Efacec has successfully concluded installation of automation system featuring protection and control at 110/12 kV Chicureo substation.

The solution installed at this substation is based on CLP 500SAS platform, an integrated and innovative solution that enables system operators with modern and technologically advanced management and control solution.

This new substation aims to respond to the growth of power demand revealed in north of metropolitan area of the capital Santiago. With a state-of-the-art technology applied in this substation, through local and remote control, full integration in the Chilectra’s operation centre, online monitoring and control of events on the grid is possible now, ensuring power supply with high quality service.

Efacec Automation is very satisfied with this new implementations in Chile, where Efacec is operating for over a decade, having supplied Chilectra with automation systems for more than tweny T&D substations.

Efacec Automation delivers Substation Automation System in Central Europe

In Romania, Efacec provided substation automation platform for the Transelectrica 220/110 kV Tihau transmission substation. This project was succeeded thanks to strengthened cooperation between Automation Portugal and Romanian subsidiary Efacec Central Europe.

The project included supply, configuration and commissioning of a complete SAS system, integrating Efacec automation products, such as station servers UC 500E, bay control units BCU 500, protection relays from Series 420; teleprotection systems and metering.

Transelectrica is a transmission system operator in Romania, it manages and operates the transmission system and provides the electricity exchanges between the central and eastern countries of Europe. It is listed at the Bucharest Stock Exchange, where around 59% of share is held by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, and the rest by other investors.

First of a new generation automation solution based on IEC 61850 deployed for EDP Distribuição

Efacec Automation has deployed the first substation with a new generation automation architecture, integrating DCU 500 data acquisition units. The solution includes both centralized and distributed control applications using extensive GOOSE messaging. This installation is based on CLP 500RTU platform and was implemented in the Alegria substation situated in centre of Portugal, in the city of Coimbra. It is the first of four substations to be implemented with this new technology.

Part of the Series 500 IED, DCU 500 is a data acquisition, control, supervision and automation unit, available in redundant hot-swappable CPU and power supplies variants. Moreover, it provides flexible I/O options, object-oriented engineering, system tools and full IEC 61850 open design that allows users to straightforwardly apply the product in different system architectures.

Expansion of SAS at Portimão transmission substation, REN

Efacec Automation deploys CLP 500SAS automation platform at REN, the Portuguese TSO, in Portimão substation due to implementation of a new shunt reactance at the 400 kV level. This installation included project, configuration, test, supervision and commissioning.

This project confirms, once again, REN’s acknowledgment and trust in Efacec automation solutions. Efacec and REN have a long-term business cooperation that translates into more than 50 installed substation automation systems, in both new projects and remodelling the existing ones.

Automation systems delivered for the Angolan DSO and TSO

Efacec Automation has successfully concluded the delivery of multiple automation systems for substations in Angola. The CLP 500 platform was deployed performed at Cáala (Huambo) and Benfica de Huambo transmission substations (RNT) and at Sapú distribution substation (ENDE).

With the conclusion of this project Efacec strengthens its presence in Angola and confirms the added value of its offer. ENDE and RNT have been working with Efacec Automation for the last several years, not only in the scope of substation automation systems, but also with SCADA systems. Notably Efacec has also recently concluded the implementation of a SCADA system upgrade at RNT.
