Efacec Automation, smart grids technology leader, secured a new order from EDP Distribuição for the supply, configuration, installation and commissioning of more than 3.700 distribution transformer controllers (DTC) based on Efacec G Smart controllers. Distribution transformer control and metering aggregator units will be installed in secondary substations (MV/LV), covering all the Portuguese territory, where Efacec has already totalized over 3.000 G Smart units installed and in operation.

G Smart controller, part of the SmartGate family, is an innovative family of smart automation products from Efacec in a compact form factor, with distributed autonomous MV automation algorithms, such as FDIR, that can be deployed with units that present IEC 61850 capabilities and IEC 61131-3 user programming together with core applications functions.

Smart grid applications such as integrated M/LV automation are now viable, enabling the economical deployment of combined automation, condition monitoring, measurement, metering, power quality and communications.
