New R&D Projects

Efacec Automation in the scope of its R&D activity has initiated participation in three new projects in the last months. We are satisfied to announce inauguration of the following projects:

Monitor BT

The Monitor BT is a R&D project that aims to explore and develop a set of advanced features for control and supervision of electric power distribution grids at the low voltage level (LV), according to the smart grids concept. The products that will be developed in this project will be tested and demonstrated in the LV lines and public lighting infrastructures, as well as in the laboratories. The Monitor BT is led by Efacec Automation in cooperation with research institution INESC INOV, and with participation of the Portuguese DSO – EDP Distribuição. This project is funded by QREN, was started June 2013 and will take 2 years.

3PHASE

The 3PHASE project refers to unbalanced 3-Phase State Estimator for distribution networks considering distributed energy resources. It is a R&D project that aims to explore and develop a set of advanced features in the scope of SCADA/DMS systems for unbalanced 3-phase electric power grids.
The 3PHASE project brings the features of the State Estimator feature down to the distribution grid level, comprising balanced and unbalanced 3-phase electric power grids.
The 3PHASE is led by Efacec Automation in cooperation with INESC Porto (a Portuguese research institution). This project is funded by QREN (the National Strategic Reference Framework), it started in January 2014 and has duration of 18 months.

e-balance

The e-balance (balancing energy production and consumption in energy efficient smart neighborhoods) is a R&D project that aims to explore and develop holistic and flexible solutions to improve the energy efficiency of present and future communities, in the scope of the smart cities, having in mind technical and behavior criteria, in order to balance the energy generation and consumption.
This project is led by German IHP GmbH – Innovations for High Performance Microelectronics, in cooperation with several European industry entities, research and technology institutions (namely from Germany, Holland, Poland, Portugal and Spain). It’s funded by FP7, was started October 2013 and will take 42 months.
