Efacec Automation selected to supply the SCADA/EMS systems for Angolan ENE

Another significant project will be delivered in Angola. Efacec Automation was selected to upgrade the SCADA/EMS system currently installed in the ENE’s control center. ENE, the national power company, is a public utility responsible for production, transmission, distribution and commercialization of electricity.

With a steep economic growth, Angola’s energy requirements for higher quality and availability of power supply are also growing. To respond to these requirements ENE has launched a control center upgrade project for which Efacec Automation is supplying the SCADA/EMS system based on ScateX+, Efacec’s most recent platform for network management. This system will provide ENE new management functionalities, such as remote control and supervision, EMS advanced functions and dedicated operator training simulator.

The current project is part of a wider program under implementation by ENE. It includes dispatch room and technical facilities remodeling, expansion and improvement of communication networks at national level, and also extension of the network for other regions of the country, namely south, center and hinterland.

In an early stage, this upgrade will allow integration of 24 energy substations (with voltage levels of 60 kV and 220 kV), spread out through the national territory, mainly at the northern and central areas of Angola. This will ensure the supervision and remote control over those substations directly from the operation dispatch center in Camama.

The awarding of this project constitutes an acknowledgement of Efacec’s products and solutions, as well as the skills and capabilities of our professionals. Both companies have been working together for the last seven years, not only with SCADA systems, but also in the scope of substation automation, with several systems supplied.
