New R&D Projects

Efacec Automation is pleased to announce a new project in the R&D field.

Continuous R&D activity is a high priority for Efacec, in order to guarantee its competitive and long-term presence in the worldwide market. Nowadays electrical networks are more than just conventional grids to deliver electric power. Environmental sustainability concerns, increase of renewables, introduction of electrical vehicles, among others, bring new challenges to the network and to automation and management schemes, in order to provide an optimized and secure management of all assets.

Therefore Efacec Automation keeps on investing in R&D, participating in new projects in the scope of smart grids initiatives.

- OUTSIDE Project

The OUTSIDE Project aims to develop an integrated Outage Management System, which is comprised by several interfacing modules, addressing all stakeholder systems, namely SCADA/DMS and Work Order Management, Geographic Information, Customer Information, Work Force Management, Meter Data Management and Trouble Call featuring Interactive Voice Respond.

The OUTSIDE project will create a flexible solution able to anticipate future trends, leading to more reliable and secure network operation.

This project is led individually by Efacec Automation, with the cooperation of the Portuguese Distribution Company (EDP Distribuição) and the participation of a reputable R&D Institution (Fraunhofer AICOS).

The project was granted with funds by the National Strategic Reference Framework (QREN). The project started last January and will take 2 years.
