Efacec Automation participated in the suppliers’ awards initiative promoted by the Portuguese company EDP, the EDPartners awards, and was classified as one of top three in innovation category.
The competition was launched by EDP with the main goal of promoting the relationship between the company and its suppliers and business partners. There were 120 companies participating, from diverse business domains, which submitted over 160 applications. EDP has nominated 12 finalists in four categories: Customer Relationships, Best Practices, Innovation, and Corporate Social Responsibility; and finally the Excellency award for the best supplier of the year.
Efacec Automation submitted a project developed in the scope of energy networks management systems, the project designated as Model-driven Diagram Generation.
This project, already deployed at the EDP distribution control center, allows the automation of the procedure for diagram generation with model-driven methods, replacing the conventional manual methods. With diagrams generated automatically from the network model, through the creation of patterned diagrams, it is now possible to have a system with a higher level of readiness to face configuration changes, consequently reducing errors as well as advantages in terms of maintenance and lead times.
This project is just one example of the new features that Efacec is developing for its Advanced Network Management System to cope with Smart Grid-age requirements. In fact, automated system configuration management is one of the issues to tackle for efficiently operating an increasing number of intelligent field units in smart distribution networks.
