The factory acceptance test of CLP 500SAS platform were concluded for five 60/30 kV substations that will be operating by Algerian GRTE. This project is led by Saudi-based group NCC (National Contracting Company), which in turn has selected Efacec Automation as the sole supplier for the substation automation solutions.

Integrated in the Algerian 2012-2020 Strategic Energy Development program, those substations are spread out over the Algerian territory and are as follows: Hassi Bahbah, Messerghine 2, Chetma, El Moustakbel and Ourllel.

The CLP 500SAS platform installed at each substation is composed by control and protection system. At the control system, for both 60 and 30 kV levels, Efacec UC 500E station servers and BCU 500 digital controllers are integrated. As for protection system, Efacec protection relays from Series 420 are integrated in addition to third party protection systems (namely rom from ABB and Siemens). At the 30 kV level Efacec Automation TPU 420 protection series are integrated in Efacec Switchgear business unit cubicles. For seamless multivendor IED integration the IEC 61850 standard is implemented. The communications with remote centres (SCADA) will be carried out through IEC 60870-5-101 protocol.

With these installations SONELGAZ will benefit with improved and more reliable systems and consequently optimize its network operation.
