Efacec Automation, in cooperation with other business units, is supplying the automation and control solutions for three mobile substations, for Edesur in Argentina. The two systems of this set started operation in December, under close supervision of Efacec specialists. The mobile substations (each of 132/13.86 kV) are also Efacec’s scope of supply, particularly of the power transformers division.
Efacec Automation is providing solutions based on CLP 500 unified platform that integrates UC 500E station servers, BCU 500 digital controllers, protection relays from Series 420 and third party protection relays. Communication of protection units and company’s protection laboratory is carried out through the IEC 61850 standard. Connection between automation and control system and protection relays is hardwired. The supply further includes communications with the remote SCADA carried out through the DNP 3.0 slave protocol.
This project represented a huge challenge for Efacec’s engineers, and was achieved in very narrow time window. In order to fulfil the customer requirements, soon after the factory acceptance test performed at Efacec facilities, all equipment was transported to Buenos Aires with a Antonov 124 cargo airplane, the only one capable to transport this type of load. It’s expected that third mobile substation will be in service in January 2015.
Edesur, a part of Enel Group, is responsible for distribution grid in south region of Capital Federal and several districts of Buenos Aires province. It delivers energy to more than 2.3 million customers. |
