Efacec Automation, in cooperation with Switchgear business unit, has been selected to supply the automation system for the Chilean transmission operator Transelec, in the scope of the expansion of its 220 kV substation. This contract was succeeded due to strengthened cooperation between Automation in Portugal and Efacec local division in Chile.
This order includes the extension of two lines of 220 kV at the Ciruelos substation. The system to be supplied is based on CLP 500SAS platform, technology integrally developed by Efacec. The platform will integrate new station server units UC 500E, bay control units BCU 500 and third party protection units. The system communications will be upgraded to the IEC 61850 international standard, the existing automation system and all equipment will be integrated in the substation through standard protocols such as Profibus, IEC 60870-5-103 and DNP 3.0.
Transelec is the company responsible for a transmission grid in Chile, having under its operation central and north regions of the country.
Efacec Automation is very satisfied with this new project in Chile, being the first with this transmission utility. In Chile Automation is working for over a decade, having supplied for Chilectra automation systems for both transmission and distribution substations. |
