Efacec Automation, as a trusted supplier of substations automation solutions, has been selected to deliver a new CLP 500 automation platform for the twelve mobile substations (8 of 220 kV and 4 of 60 kV), through Siemens Grenoble - the main contractor, for the Algerian electric power company SONELGAZ.

The proposed automation system, based on CLP 500 platform, integrates Efacec’s station server software UC 500 with user interface HMI 500, digital controllers BCU 500, and third party protection systems, namely from Siemens. At the substation level, the IEC 61850 standard will be implemented for equipment communications, allowing seamless multivendor integration. The communications with the remote SCADA control center will be carried out through the IEC 60870-5-101 protocol.

With project conclusion scheduled for the 1^st half of the next year, SONELGAZ will benefit with improved and more reliable systems and consequently optimize its network operation.
